Annette Cone-Skelton, a native of LaGrange, Georgia. She co-founded the Museum of Contemporary Art of Georgia (MOCA GA) ( She is a graduate of the Atlanta College of Art, Atlanta, Georgia, B.F.A. (Ford Foundation Scholar) 1963-1968. Yet, she first attended LaGrange College, LaGrange, GA from 1960-1962. As an accomplished artist herself for the past 30 years, she is best known for her work in abstraction. Cone-Skelton has pieces in the permanent collections of more than 10 national museums including the High Museum of Art Atlanta (

She has received honors such as: Creative Loafing’s Critics’ Award for Best Visual Artist and Georgia’s Women in the Visual Arts Achievement Award from the Georgia Commission on Women. However, her greatest accomplishment to date is the creation of MOCA GA, to represent the contemporary artists of Georgia.
